A Cake, Please! one of a Kind Creation

A Cake, Please! One of a Kind Creation

Cake, Please! makes an edible Christmas Tree, Ornaments and Presents as their “TeaRoom Table Topper” Design for A Christmas Affair: It’s a Wild Holiday hosted by The Austin Junior League. The event runs from November 18th –November 22nd at the Palmer Event Center.

After running through many sketches, research and safari themes; the Cake, Please! Team decided to attempt something that they had not seen before. There were going to make a Christmas Tree pine needle by pine needle! Once the decision was made it was just a matter or how to execute the project. The team discussed the process for about an hour, making small examples to emulate what couldn’t be expressed in words. At one point a small outdoor Christmas tree decoration was purchased and disassembled to give them an idea of how to approach the task.

Once the final decision was made on how to accomplish the construction of the tree it was time to get to work. The Tree itself was comprised of more than 70 decorator hours and approximately 2000 pine needles. Cake, Please! also decided to use edible sugar sheets of various animal prints. These sheets were used to decorate the gift box bows and adorn some of the Christmas tree ornaments. There were also some hand painted animal print patterns on the ornaments and Christmas skirting.

This Edible Artwork was made to be a display, however, each element of this project could easily be converted to all edible products. The Christmas boxes (which are Styrofoam covered in rolled sugar) could be any flavor cake one desires. The Tree pine needles and bows are made of rolled sugar. The ornaments are chocolate and peanut butter truffles, rolled sugar snowflakes, candy canes and animal print purses.

“Working on this cake was awesome!” says Cathy, one of the owners of Cake, Please!. “We were able to create something form scratch that is one of a kind and unique to us.” View a photo of the cake at http://i47.tinypic.com/5plqaf.jpg and visit the website for more photos www.cake-please.com

by Cake, Please!, in: Uncategorized

Cake, Please! and It’s A Wild Holiday!

Cake, Please! is excited to be a part of A Christmas Affair 2009: It’s A Wild Holiday. This is the 34th Annual Holiday Event hosted by The Austin Junior League. The Event will be held at the Palmer Event Center in Austin Texas from November 18th- November 22nd.

This will be the first year that Cake, Please! will be a part of this wonderful Event. “We were honored when invited to be a part of this amazing event.” Says Cake, Please! owners. “Now we just need to decide what to create!”

Cake, Please! is one of the many “Tearoom Topper” Designers. They will create a Centerpiece for one of the tables in the Signature Tearoom of the Palmer Event Center. The centerpiece is to stay with the theme of It’s A Wild Holiday African Safari.

Cake, Please! enjoys events like this, however, they can also cause “cakers-block”. “We create cake dreams generally by request and the customer gives us an idea of what they want. So when we are able to create with free reign (so to speak) the ideas come rushing in.” comments Keesha of Cake, Please!

Cake, Please! has an awesome team that turns seemingly impossible ideas into masterful pieces of art. We can’t wait to see what turns up on the table at this event. There is no dream to far fetched for this Cake Team. “We love a challenge, and even more to be challenged by ourselves.”

From Halloween to Thanksgiving! at Cake, Please!

by Cake, Please!, in: Uncategorized

The Cake business is great around this time of the year.  The creative juices are able to flow freely.  For the whole month of October we were able to think of cool yet scary things to make.  Among them were scary iced cookies, a Corpse Bride themed wedding cake, A scary pumpkin and our favorite Longhorn Pumpkins.

We made about 100 of these cute, delicious treats.  Each of them had a different face and their own personality!  The creation of these sparked another creation… The Longhorn Turkey!  What is this you ask?

The Longhorn Turkey is a Thanksgiving Edition.  It is a delicious Pumpkin Cupcake with a Grand Marnier Cream Cheese Filling, Buttercream Top.  The Cupcake will be adorned with an Iced Cookie Longhorn head and and turkey feathers wit buttercream.  Yep, your Cupcake and Cookie in one treat.

This is a cupcake that can be shared.  Priced at 6 for $20.00 a cupcake you get a standard sized cupcake with with a Longhorn Iced Cookie  However, they are so good you wont want to share.

Here are some images of a few of our October treats… And Look for the Longhorn Turkey soon.

Top tier of your Wedding cake- Save or Not to Save?

by Cake, Please!, in: Uncategorized

Cake, Please! owner Gloriana G. Koll decided to save the top tier of her wedding cake and experiment to see if it was a good save or not.  Gloriana’s cake was made by Cake, Please! last year in September.  The cake flavor was a deliciously moist coconut cake with pineapple cream cheese filling.

This cake flavor is an original creation by Cake, Please!.  The cake was created to accommodate Cake, Please! clients that love the flavor of coconut but dont care to much for the coconut flakes.  This cake has all the flavor of coconut without the flakes.  Delish!

Since the wedding in September Gloriana and Richie Koll have had a new addition to the family and forgot all about the 1 year anniversary tradition of taking a taste of the cake.  Recently the Koll’s were cleaning out the freezer and came across the top tier of their wedding cake.  Hesitant as anyone would be they took the cake out and decided to give it a go.  Much to their surprise the cake “seemed to be even better than I remembered” says Gloriana.  “Richie and I were digging into it with the fork like it was just made.”  Gloriana felt as if the coconut flavor (which is cream of coconut not imitation coconut flavoring) had time to marinate and infuse in the cake.

We hear mixed emotions about whether to keep the top tier from many of our brides. Our best advice is to maybe keep a couple of slices to celebrate with on your anniversary or just give us a call and we will fix up another one same flavor.  However, as Gloriana can attest to Cake, Please! cake is still good one year and then some later!

Image of the cake 1 year later… “Taste much better than it looks!” says Gloriana

Let us know how your cake was on your 1 year anniversary.
